Firstly Thank you to the parents and members who stayed for the meeting.
o Election of the new committee for 2012 took place in accordance with the
constitution.
Executive members
- Klee re-elected as secretary by Darren
- Darren was voted in with seven votes to one against Wayne.
- Renata elected as Treasurer
Volunteered committee members
- Linda Hill
- Wayne Mersini
- Simon Aspinall
- Tracey Loftus
o It was discussed with the previous committee that a change of junior training nights
may need to take place. After letters going out to members only 3 juniors out of the 26 slips
returned could not make a Tuesday night.
The decision has been made that the Wednesday night will be changed to a Tuesday
night, with times remaining the same. This will start in the New Year.
o Accounts were assessed and discussed that the club after fees rising has managed
to break even after being at a loss the year before.
Therefore fees will remain the same for another year.
TJC Membership £10
Mat fees £3 per week for juniors and £4 a week for seniors.
Gary brought up the possibility of doing fundraising events to raise money for the club. It
was suggested that if any ideas were arisen it would be looked into on the condition that
there would be help from parents with organisation and observation of the events.
Lottery funding was also suggested, but due to the association we are with and the fact
we were unable to register as a charity even though we are a charity run club, it is not
possible to gain any lottery or government funding.
o This year a big issue has been the wear and tare of the matting area, after 25 years of
constant use. A minimum of five mats have been moved due to tares and will defiantly
need replacing. It has been notice during disinfecting the mats that 50% are now very thin
and have small slits in the plastic.
Each mat replaced will cost £120. It has been estimated that for the whole matting area it
would cost the club £9000.
o The matter of BJA membership was discussed; Darren explained that due to the fees
of the BJA, he could not ask parents to pay for both BJA and EUDO memberships for
those who would benefit from the international championships. BJA has not been
completely ruled out, research into the matter will continue by Darren.
o The Question was asked ‘do we do any tours?’ Years ago when Darren was a junior
the club used to travel to Germany, and again in the late 90s we would travel to South
Brent in Devon for the day.
Klee will look into any clubs that may wish to do a weekend event, a possibility of
speaking to Darren Trippick with his connections with London clubs.
o Everyone was happy with the amount of championships, although Darren felt they
needed to be more spread throughout the year .
Meeting Closed at 9.27pm
